Linda,

What sort of position is it growing in? Many Cornus species (including kousa), being of woodland origin, prefer a water-retentive soil and a bit of shade. Maybe the soil's too dry and it's getting too much sun, causing drought/heat stress? If this is possible give it a good mulch.
