Queen Palm Trunk Rot?

Queen Palm Trunk Rot?

Have an established queen palm (10-12') that has rotted outer bark halfway up the tree. At first, the area was only about 1-2’ of rotted bark. It's now grown to about 3-4 ft of rotted outer bark. The interior part of the trunk is still intact and the canopy is healthy. However, I am concerned that the trunk may never heal and strong winds might snap the trunk. Any advice would be helpful. Bugs/termites or disease? Don’t see any bugs. Pics available. Thanks.
