Hi there,

There isn't a lot out there that can kill a palm tree, so you are quite unlucky to have this problem. The only thing I am aware of with queen palms is a fungus that gets hold of them called 'Ganoderma butt rot'.

It's caused by mechanical damage or other making a small hole in the side of the trunk that allows the fungus to enter and slowly rot it out.

Getting an arborist in the remove the tree could be a good idea as it's structural integrity can be seriously affected if the rot gets hold of more than 40% of it's diameter.

At the leaves are a bit of a wind sale they catch wind and add more pressure to the trunk. Sorry to be the barer of bad news, but it needs to go!
