Sorry to say that I couldn't view the image shared in this post. As a tree lover and expert, I can guess what would have happened with the tree. May be while doing pruning, major damages may have occurred in the branches. Otherwise, the tree would grow further if properly pruned. Now, since it is dead, if at all dead, then contact a tree removal service company and get it removed.
