I have recently planted a silver birch sapling - despite the ferocious winds it is still there, but- some of its leaves are turned a light bronze colour and a few have curled up [but still soft] there are also a couple of holes at the base of some leaves.
What could be the problems? I have seen a few greenfly on the leaves [but only one or two].
confused by advice in book seems it could be:- wind damage/spring scorch/pests/nutrient deficiency/ lack of water [been giving it 4 gallons daily - it is only little]
the ground is covered with weed control fabric and slate chips.
Any advice please?
