Last season my plum tree had plum pockets. I noticed it early on but left it untreated, leading to about half the crop dying.

Over this winter I have fairly heavily cropped the tree, and found couple of batches of this fungus. I've always had a lot of green mould stuff but this is the first time I've seen actual fungus. We get a lot of mushrooms growing on our lawn which is also a pain.

Could this be the cause of the plum pockets?

To get rid of it should I scrape the fungus off and simply burn it or spray a fungicide?
