Hi there I planted a Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis 'Shademaster' about 25years ago which is now gorgeous but HUGE. We are about to knock down our old house a build a new one and I am concerned the tree roots may damage the new proprerty. At it's closest point the tree trunk would be about 7 meters from the house. Surface roots are visible. We are not sure if we will have to remove the tree (tradegy!) or perhaps cutting half of it back could help reduce the root growth for now at least? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! many thanks.
