I have a field maple which is about 20-25ft tall. We have lived here for 5 1/2 years and it has had good growth probably doubling in size in that time, particularly over the last couple of years. This year I noticed only 1/3 of the tree has leafed. When I looked closer I realised that the bark on the main branch (the Side that hasnít leafed) is covered in white with black spots all over it. The small leaves that have started to sprout on there have also died off. Does anyone know what this could be or steps I could take to fix it?
