We had a leylandii hedge planted approximately 2 years ago. They were 9ft high and are the cupressocyparis leylandii. This year we have noticed that a couple of them have started yellowing on the lower branches and eventually they die and drop off although there is plenty of new growth at the top of the trees.
Can you help us with this problem as we don't want to lose the hedge?
They are planted against a 6ft closeboard fence, do you think it's because the bottoms of them aren't getting enough sun or do we have another problem?

Thanks.
