Acer Dying?

Acer Dying?

I have had an Acer (Purple leaf, 5 finger don't know the variety) planted in well drained soil at the front of the house for about 10 years. Growing beautifully until this year, when it started to leaf i noted that one of the inside branches had died over winter. I cut this out, but now find that other limbs are starting to dry out and some upper leafs are curling and drying out. I live in the midlands and as you may well know we have had a bit of rain lately. Can anyone please advise?
