Silk Floss Tree Dropping Leaves

Silk Floss Tree Dropping Leaves

I just moved to a new house in Los Angeles and we have what has been identified as a "Silk Floss" Tree. Unfortunately my poor tree seems to be losing all of its leaves. For awhile it was moderately shedding leaves, and I noticed that many of the leaves on the tree had brown tips. Now I cannot seem to sweep the leaves up fast enough.

Is my tree dying or is this a normal time for this type of tree to be losing leaves in LA? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
