I have several sunset maples that were planted as we built our home (6 years ago). One of these trees was damaged prior to planting. There seemes to be a scare that is about 8' wide and 6" tall on the trunk of the tree. The trees were originaly 6' in dia as planted and now are about 8'- 10' I have noticed ants and the tree is cracking in teh spot mentioned. What is the best thing to do? I hate to loose this tree.
