I have a Greyswood Ghost - Betula utilis jacquemontii, on my property which is accesible to the general public, unfortunately children have completely stripped the papery silver bark and the underlying creamy bark from part of the trunk.
The wood underneath is very dark brown and has started to crack, is there any treatment that I can use to prevent the wood from rotting or becoming diseased?
