I have what I was told was an American White Oak. I'm not sure how old it is but I have been in this property for 7 years and it has grown from around 6 feet tall to about 12-15 feet. It's trunk is about 6-8 inches in diameter. My problem is that it is near my pool about 10-12 feet away, and I'm affraid that in time it's root system will cause some damage. It is near the shallow end of the pool. Should I be conserned? Should I have it removed or cut down?
