Bay Trees

I have just planted a couple of 1 metre tall bay tree in 0.5 m3 pots and the leaves are turning yellow. Am I overwatering(heavily, every 3 days) or underwatering? Please help; they were expensive and quite beautiful. I don't want to be responsible for their demise...
