Have a varigated poplar in garden, only about 6ft tall. Just noticed top section dying and bark split and rotten. Have cut out this bit to try to save it, but have just seen bark at bottom of tree is the same.
It also feels very sticky all over the branches and lots of ants. Don't really want to lose it. Have you any idea what it could be and what I can do? I can send photos if it will help.
