OLDER PEACH TREES

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A HOUSE WHICH HAS 2 PEACH TREES IN THE BACK YARD..THEY ARE LIKELY THERE SINCE THE HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1976 THEY APPEAR TO BE MATURE AND HAVE PEACHES ON THEM WHICH ARE APPROX THE SIZE OF SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN GOLF BALLS...SOME HAVE BEGUN TO ROT...I AM WONDERING HOW TO SAVE THEM IF POSSIBLE,AND CARE FOR THEM....CAN I BEGIN THIS MO (AUGUST) AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE FALL UNTIL WINTER, HOPING THEY WILL BE OK IN THE SPRING?
