I think it is an Ornamental cherry tree as I have never seen any actual fruit. I am in Baltimore, Maryland in the US. We average about 3 in. of rain per month though the last month was below the normal rainfall (I think).

I don't know if anything has changed over the past year or two as this is my first summer in the house. I did notice some ants crawling on the tree but not dropping twigs though I'm not entirely sure what that means. I see no spots on the leaves and the yellow leaves actually look healthy but just quite yellow.

No fertilizer or herbicide has been used on the lawn under the tree. The lawn appears healthy. I have started watering it about once a week on a slow drip house around the canopy for anywhere from 6 to 12 hours.

There is no mulch issue as there are some flowers planted in the mulch area at the base of the trunk.
