Are you saying that one third of the tree has brown leaves but this is the only dead branch? Are there any spots on the leaves? Is there one side of the tree that has the normal color leaves and the other two thirds are brown or is the browning distributed throughout the tree? Do you see any pests on the leaves, where the leaves meet the branches or anything on the branches that looks like it shouldn't be there - maybe some tan bumps?
