acer tree

Posted by pauline hubbucks , Oct 08,2006,20:13       Forum

we have very large acer tree in our gargen (approx 12 ft high)
it is planted on our patio so the roots are under the patio.
we want to put a conservatory on our house where it is and so we need to
move it and would be grateful for any advice on the best way to do this
also on alternative positions.
should we prune it first, if so how, i have only ever trimmed the bottom so that we can walk under it as it is outside our patio doors, so near to the house. The alternate site we would like to move it to is at the end of the garden in a corner so a wooden fence would be one side and a
small wall the other, so semi sheltered. we are keen to keep this tree
alive as it is absolutely lovely and it would be a crime to loose it.
