Japanese Maple bark Damage

Posted by Chad stevenson , Oct 14,2006,23:30       Forum

I have recently had a Japanese maple tree moved. The opportunity arrose because of replacement of an underground water line. The problem is when the equipment opperator excavated the tree, damage was done to the bark around the tree. My question is what can be done to aid in the healing process and the transplant of thr tree? (The scrape is 1' x 4 inches long.) The trunk of the tree is about the size of a ladies wrist?
