When felling an Ash tree is necessary

Posted by Sarah , Jan 22,2007,11:50       Forum

Hello there,

We have a very large ash tree in our garden, the trunk was divided quite near the ground into 3 seperate trunks. In the recent storms 2 of the 3 trunks have fallen leaving one up standing but quite alot of damage around the base of the tree.

A local tree surgeon says there is no way to save the remaining trunk and quotes 1200 pounds + VAT to fell it and remove it all.

Does anyone have an opinion on this as we are very sad to be losing such a majestic tree but have no way of knowing if we are being advised correctly.

Thanks in advance,

Sarah
