Yew Trees
| Posted by Moira , Jan 24,2007,11:35 | Forum | ||||
I have 5 yew trees, about 25/30 feet high on the edge of a small garden. The morning sun doesn't get over the trees and as a result this side of the garden....and most of the grass gets no sun.
The other side also had very tall lime trees.... these used to be pleashed. I have just had them re-done by a professional tree man, so hopefully I can get some afternoon sun.
The back of the garden...not my side has 20mtr poplars....next year these are coming down I understand.
I want to get my yew trees cut down a bit, and some of the lower branches taken away. I have read that topping isn't good...so would thinning out give me sunlight.
I am happy to have this side of the garden with some shade, but I have 2 dogs and I need some grass for them... all there is at the moment is mud and moss.
I think cutting the lime trees will help a lot, but the Yews do take up such a big space....will the thinning so the trick.
