there is one thing that just may help. scrape of the mold and sap as thoroughly as you can and quickly apply some PVA adhesive/sealant. any proprietary brand will do as long as its PVA.
an expensive wound sealant used by bonsai artists is actually little more than a mixture PVA and Fullers Earth. good luck. hope it works
