We have an Live Oak that is a very slow growing, about 8-16 inches per year - if that. We suspect it was planted 6 inches too deep and had mid trunk damage early on. The outer branches had little foliage during the year, in spring everytings blooms and later appear void of foliage on the outer 1/4 of the tree. The middle of the tree has heaby thick leaves of foliage, the outer leaves are more sparce.
There are round 1" balls growths forming at many branch bases. There are horned type sexagon spiders that fill the tree with cob-webs in the summer.

We really do not know what is going on here.

Any clues?
