As far as I am aware the legal precedent pertinent to this issue relates to
a case where the owner of the trees returned to find his lawn covered with
wood chips as his neighbour had cut back the overhanging trees to the
boundary and thinking he was entitled he "returned" them to the owner, by
instructing the contractor to point the spout of his chipper over the fence.

In the resultant court case the judge ruled that it was necessary to offer
the tree owner the pruning's UNADULTARATED,

No I wasn't the contractor.

Charles Mynors is probably the foremost authority on tee case law in the UK
if not the WORLD try him at 2 Harcourt Buildings, Temple EC4 perhaps on a no
answer no fee basis!
