The reason I quoted Ganoderma adspersum (I understand
your thoughts here) was that Ganoderma applanatum is
rare and very often found on dead standing trees
(though this may be the case here) and that many
mistake Ganoderma applanatum for Ganoderma adspersum.
If the Beech is alive, I'd plump for the latter.
Regarding no mention of AMIUG with regards to
pre-purchase, unfortunately we cannot comment on such
articles unless we are asked to do so or at least made
aware of their impending publication. As for the
pruning to abate soils subsidence issue, again it's
down to those who were deemed qualified to quote for
the article, though had it been down to others, a very
different story would have evolved.....

Which? pointing out the errors.
