Here in the London Borough of Haringey we have c.800 tree root nuisance
claims with £5k put aside for each one. The policy excess we have with Royal
Sun Alliance is £250k so we are in effect self insured.
With regard to mitigating our liabilities we have to show that inspections
are made in a methodical manner and that these are recorded along with ad
hoc or cyclical works issued from the inspections. This I would say is the
main reason for using Stems/Confirm databases, especially in the wake of
Woolf.
