Arb Research Note 117/93 "Choosing the right time of year to prune trees" by
Lonsdale from the Arb Advisory and Information Service. 

Section 7.7.2.5 of Research for Amenity Trees no.7 "Principles of Tree
Hazard Assessment and Management" provides more general advice.

Does anyone know of a good book or guidance note that explains when and

to prune each tree species
as we seem to be getting more and more requests from the general public

this information.
