Violence against tree officers

Subject: Violence against tree officers

Many of you have been very helpful in the past with my enquiries about why
people wants trees pruned or felled and my request here is linked to this
subject. I have developed a questionnaire to try and understand if local
government officers responsible for trees experience violence (physical and
non-physical) whilst doing their job. I intend to send the survey to
randomly selected Councils and from the sample try and understand how much
grief TOs might or might not suffer from. This question is asked in the
context that trees are widely considered a benefit to people and incidents
of violence towards those that look after trees should, in that case, be
rare.

Before I send out the questionnaire I need to test if it is understandable
etc and I am asking for Tree Officer volunteers to help with this process
and to point out any omissions, errors etc. If you are able to help please
email me direct.

I know its not a very jolly subject but I hope the responses will help all
Tree Officers.

As a bit of background I have enrolled with the University of Central
England to do an MPhil based on the reasons people want trees pruned or
felled and the impact this has on the tree population. I was intending to
put a paper together from the earlier questions that many of you answered
but have delayed it to try and include more info - I mention this as I am
mindful that I keep asking questions and nothing seems to happen afterwards.

Happy Christmas everyone

John F
