God, I'm having to agree with Julian again.
In my authority the two TO's decided to take the complete TPO system in-house after reorganisation, simply to ensure that the job was done properly. It now works. But, in their wisdom them up top moved the other TO across to biodiversity [and my biodiversity porfolio went with her] So.... I have the whole County to cover, on my tod with no admin backup.....but at least I know that if I make a TPO its done properly.
And... at last, I'm not ignored by planners, well not as often anyway, they even bring TPO breaches to me!

Come on Jules, Tree Officers galore are all but ignored by Planners and I don't believe that you haven't ever witnessed that. In smaller authorities they're probably the foreman of the tree team first! Conversely you often get a TO who's a planner and is ignorant of most things arboricultural.
My e-mail address of 'thujopsis' is regularly greeted by TO's with whats that then?

Bill.
