What about best use of your resources?

We offer a service to the planning department (and others) and advise them on all arboricultural/forestry/countryside matters. It works well, not only does it free up technical expertise, we comment on the trees and don’t have to deal with all the admin/paperwork, Officers are paid to work in their chosen field and not get tied up in admin tasks. It also allows us to stand back from the ‘planning melee’ (i.e. “Sorry sir you’ll have to take that up with the Planning department we only advise”). Finally it enables a holistic approach to tree management throughout the Borough it’s one Sections remit and not spread throughout the Authority.

In my opinion TPO administration should be carried out by administrators not qualified Officers.
