The press release needs to be taken in context. It will no doubt have been
sent to a great many people as well as myself and it's sole function is to
promote this research done by Treevolution for the HSE.
http://www.hse.gov.uk/research/crr_htm/2001/crr01402.htm
Anyone involved in arboriculture, either at the dirty end if the stick or
involved in specifying work needs to be aware of this document. This work
will become (as the FASTCo guides before it) the best practice statement for
the use of top handled saws. Anyone getting their comeuppance will find that
this document is the stick that the oppositions expert and barrister are
wielding.
Imagine if you will the contractor on the wrong end of an HSE investigation,
ignorant of the existence of this, or previous best practice. HSE comes down
with a heavy hand on such individuals.
All my people, climbers and groundsmen alike have been through the document
together, received a copy and signed for it. Takes the who said what to who
out of the equation.
Andy

Yeah right, thanks Andy;
They never specify wether the operatives are industry members or simply
joe
public do they. While I know that the dealers are only supposed to sell
the
things to trained people, I know that at least 10 left my service to lord
knows who last year.
Maybe someone is getting their comeuppance? Nah, we're never that lucky
are
we....
Bill.
