Another thought: your yankie doodle may not know, but the biggest in the uk
is at Castle Leod in the Highlands. 55m and growing, though of course this
is just weeny compared to the brutes at Calavares Grove. I bet he'd look at
our best effort and say 'gee, we have them much bigger in the States'. [Cue
deluge of denial from colonial lurkers...]

Pop quiz: does anyone know how our Pseudotsuga compare in stature to the
ones in their homeland?
