Two points: 1. Asking people to become directly involved in decision making is relatively new. They are still not used to it. This is not their fault 2. It is the job of those who know the value of trees to educate and persuade those who do not (who else is going to do it?). Apathy in this area is a direct reflection of our failure. Perhaps we should be looking for examples of success rather than failure. Then we could be asking ourselves why we havn't achieved what others have. Where are the urban foresters?
