I've got a fine big Acacia dealbata, which is starting to fall apart, as
they do. Its in full flower at the moment and looks dead good, but a
couple more years and it will have lost most of its crown.

Anyone got any experience of coppicing these? I know they come back
fairly well after major traumas.

Further to my Acacia Musings of this time last year, the little tree in
Dorset that was flowering last year has succumbed to the frost this year.
Bu**er! It was covered in flower buds and was going to look a treat. So
despite the well publicised Arctic conditions in the south east last week it
appears that it still wasn't as cold as Dorset or is yours in a particularly
sheltered spot Topher? Or it could be provenance I s'pose.

I've still never seen one in flower round here. Perhaps Sheffield Council
will stick one in the new Winter Garden or the Newly restored Glasshouses
(HLF funded) at the Botanical Gardens.

Bill.

(Note to Colin Basforth; Arroll Winning is still alive & deeply immersed in
the Botty Garden restoration)
