Trees falling on buildings

Subject: Trees falling on buildings

Following from some of the recent threads has anyone seen a house damaged
really badly or destroyed by a falling tree?

From all the cases I've seen and been involved in even quite large ones seem
to come to rest on the roof. They often break it up and poke branches
through the upper ceilings but I don't think I've ever seen one do real
damage to the main walls. No doubt a big enough tree could wreck a flimsy
enough house if it was close enough, but it doesn't seem to happen very
often.

The reason I'm asking is that I so often hear people saying that they're
scared to stay in the house in high winds but it seems to be the safest
place to be. Are there any records of anyone being hurt or killed indoors?

Simon
