I've been following this thread with interest.

It has recently been suggested to me that our routine, walked (ie "normal")
survey, on its own, could be deemed in adequate and that we should be doing
supplementary driveby surveys. So, if the full survey isn't enough, then I
doubt the driveby alone will be. I expect I'll find out in due course.

As suggested elsewhwere in the thread, if you think your authority is not
doing enough, put it in writing to your seniors - otherwise there's a
backside waiting to be kicked.
