Do I understand you right? There is a mill that wants poplar for veneer?!
Call me stupid, but I didn't know poplar had much use beyond matches. Do you
have their contact details? I threw away loads of poplar last year.

I'm wrong but with the exception of poplar to one mill in East Anglia, am I
not right that there are no veneer mills left in the UK, although a few
buyers still advertise then ship over to Europe when they have a load? Has
any tree surgeon actally ever sold a veneer butt for real money (£8 plus per
cube) or is it an arban myth?

Anyone got a grand to lash out on a lump of timber of unknown provenance
allegedly a veneer quality Oak stem?
It's got a lovely shake in it making it the dearest lump of firewood I ever
saw.
