Last time I went in The White Cross I felt really out of place as I was
about the only person in there not wearing tweed, or plus fours, or both.

I always give directions to trees by naming pubs. I always give
directions
to anywhere else by naming trees. The White Cross used to be the pub
150
metres up the river from that beautiful Beech.

Dave - how do you know the vicinity of The White Cross so well ?
        (ahem.......)

On that last, did you by any chance test the Beech on Richmond
riverside
just downstream from the White Cross as I notice its down?
        If so, --?? What.

        Dominic

We went through the very same scenario of having to choose between
DMP and
Resistograph a couple of years ago. We tested several suspect trees
with
both pieces of kit and the results provided by each piece of kit
were very
consistent with one another. Both units have a software option
enabling you
the option to print out pretty graphs showing your results. (We
didn't have
time to try out the software for the Resistograph, I might add.)

However, in my opinion, there are advantages and disadvantages with
both
pieces of kit, and I think you need to consider several factors
before
making a decision. If you want further details of my findings, give
me a
call on the number below as I don't really want to run the risk of
dropping
myself in it with either Siebert or Fujikura by putting this
information on
        uktc.

By the way, we bought the DMP eventually. I wanted the Resistograph
but was
out voted by my colleagues, who then both resigned shortly after.

I am considering purchasing a decay detection drill - budget
        allowing. I am
familiar with the Siebert DDD and have used the DMP. I have
never
        used a
Resistograph and wondered what the general consensus is
about their
usefulness. I have been presented with results form one
that turned
        out to
be wildly out but I accept that it may have been user error.

If you had the money which would you choose and why?
