Horrible included bark unions - very common with Acer plat's grown as
standards - on green ones as well as purple. I think it is as much UK
nursery stock practice in those days, of pinching out the leader to make a
head, which precipitates the problem in some spp.

What ho.

Does anybody know anything about poor clonal selection of Norway Maple
cultivars? I've had a look at a row of the things, I'm assuming they're
Goldsworth
Purple, that are all showing poor form and I'm inclined to say it's due to
bad
plant selection.

We've discussed similar things with London Planes and that problem is quite
well recognised but less so with Goldsworth/ Black Knight etc.

Thanks.

Bill.
