I live in the north of Ireland, but have worked many times in the Republic

-

Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway etc. There are no tree officers as such, not

that I've ever met anyway. Certain departments will access private

consultants

if need be and pass them onto the member of the public or person making the

enquiry. In terms of trees and development, TPO's, Conservation Area Orders

and

the like, councils do not generally deal these direct, a planning service

dept

would take on that role. They themselves generally use a private consultant
too. A bit behind the times I'm afraid. I enquired most recently to a
divisional planning dept about a possible TPO and they told me to ask the
developer as they didn't know!!!!!
