I've seen good specimens of this cultivar in Holland.
If you ask the Dutch about weak attachments they will say it is all to do
with good formative pruning in the early years.
I just don't think British nurseries do this - well or enough.
Interestingly, the Dutch will admit that no amount of such pruning improves
the Raywood Ash.

Am I right that T. cordata 'Greenspire' is one of those trees that is
never happier than when accumulating included bark, prior to falling
apart at a certain age?
