Here in sunny Hampshire, we regularly get "outs". It's mostly from suicidal
swans hitting the cables on and around the river Test and the river
Anton wetland areas.
The leccy board have dangled things that look like ballcocks from the cables,
so the poor old swans don't fly into them so often. But, as there
is apparently much swan air traffic at night, they perhaps ought to look at
illuminating them in some way.
Illuminated, novelty, swan friendly ballcocks - there's a "Little Britain"
sketch in there somewhere.......
So, the last big "out" was approx 3 hours, with one memorable Christmas eve,
several years ago, when it went off at 21:00 and came back on
around 09:00 Christmas morning.
Back up all work regularly, keep the woodburner going, buy a small stove top
kettle. Or, go to the pub cos they're on propane...
Cheers and have a good festive season.
