Jon, Anything like the attached pics? Crossovers made from a small skim of tarmac are no match for Plane roots! Initially considered skimming the top of some with the stump grinder, after thought was that would create large wounds and potential entry points for pathogens etc. I think the approach to be taken will be to grind them down to a level which enables reinstating and sever them nearer the tree, carrying out remedial crown reductions to reduce sail area. Not an ideal approach or situation, but at least the tree may stay standing to fight another day! Anyone else have any views/experience on this? Regards, Mark Welby.
