Had enough Turkey?

Subject: Had enough Turkey?

This came across my desk(top) on Christmas eve and at first I thought it was
a prank but it does seem genuine.

It looks to have the makings of a tax deductible holiday in Turkey and some
CPD into the bargain.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are a non-profit eco-tourism operator which is a division of the Turkish
environmental foundation, TEMA. Our organisation is developing an oak tour
of Turkey in 2005 for the purpose of promoting eco-tourism in economically
struggling regional areas, as well as to allow visitors to experience some
of Turkey's less well-known natural and cultural wonders. Please view our
attachment below which gives details of the tour and our work.

Best regards,
Funda Ozevin Karahan

Biyotematur is a division of the Turkish non-government environmental
foundation TEMA. Our function is to organise eco-tours in order to promote
eco-tourism as an alternative economic activity from environmentally
unsustainable practices for rural communities in Turkey. One such tour that
is currently open to participants is an Oak Tour of Turkey held from 17
September to 1 October 2005. On this tour, nature lovers have the
opportunity to view Turkey's and Georgia's remarkable oak forests and
premier botanical gardens. All the profits will go to conservation,
specifically towards community-based conservation activities to regenerate
native forests in Turkey.

The tour agenda includes visits to Erzurum, one of the key sites of Kurdish
civilisation, and to Yusufeli, Barhal, Artvin and Camili in North Eastern
Turkey, Batumi in Georgia, Trabzon on the Black Sea and a city tour of
Istanbul. Species that can be viewed include Quercus infectoria boissieri,
Q. petraea iberica, Q. macranthera syspirensis, Pyrus elaeagnifolia, Quercus
pontica, Quercus imeretina, Q. hartwissiana, Q. iberica, Zelkova
carpinifolia, Quercus dschorochensis, Q. woronowii, Q. hartwissiana, Pinus
khochiana, Picea orientalis, and Ostrya carpinifolia. Participants will also
be able to view steppes with many native varieties of flora, Xero-eurxinian
valleys with shrubs, Pinus sylvestris forest, Euxinian forests, forests on
boulders, as well as woody flora, Mediterranean flora and sub-alpine flora
including Rhododendrons. Anyone with an interest in a unique natural and
cultural experience will be delighted by our tour agenda, particularly those
with a special enthusiasm for dendrology.

Please consider joining us in this unique and spectacular tour. For further
information, please contact us by email at biyotematur@xxxxxxxxxxxx.com.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours

Funda Ozevin Karahan
