Decay detection challenge?

Subject: Decay detection challenge?

Now then now then,
All these recent discussions about mallets Picus DDD etc have got me
pondering a little test session we could organise.

I have, kicking around my yard, various lumps of decayed timber that are
reasonable examples of what we've recently been arguing about. These are
destined
to become firewood or sculptures or timber or something, but I could possibly
stick them on the back of the truck and cart them off to somewhere and stand
them up for inspection and examination and subsequent dissection. The AA
conference at York next year springs to mind?

Whaddya think? Guy, you listening? How about it?

I've got a nice recent lump of Ustulina/Kretschmaria Beech and I've got a
hollow Lime coming in any minute. There's bound to be other stuff before
then.
Any takers?

Bill.
