Hello all

Chris Hastie wrote
RPA of 113m² needed, meaning a circle of radius 6m. But the tree stands
against a 2m high retaining wall, with a highway at the bottom of it.
Therefore all roots probably in site. Therefore whole RPA should be in
site. Which means tree stands in the centre of the baseline of a
semi-circle with area of 113m², which means a radius of nearly 8.5m.

If you are dealing with trees in such a situation then to work out the new
radius needed to create the semi-circle is as follows:

New radius (for semi circle) = 1.4142 x Old radius (as worked out from
table 2 BS 5837:2005)

Apologies if this equation as been posted before and I have missed it, but
I am not great at math, and if anyone else is like me then I just thought
it may be of some help.

Regards with festive cheer

Russ
