I lost the begining of this thread. It's been a while since I bought
Christmas trees. But if we found pines for sale they were sheared Scots
pines. Greater volumes of blue and white spruce or balsam and Fraser fir.
Again, probably sheared. That's of course NE US. Some local growers but the
big volumes come from Maine and Quebec.

I can't actually remember the preferred species, but it is certainly the
case that pines of some sort are a popular choice in the North East.
