If I remember rightly, this was a thread before on UKTC. It may be worth
having a look through the archive...

I think Chris's idea of a sacrificial crop is a good one. Surround each
plant with bramble (or rather Blackberries that you can crop). Apparently
deer don't like walking through it.

Scott's 'Dogs with dog collars' could also work.
